This Sunday, May 15th, the Akron Art Museum and Akron Film co-present SPARK Family Film Fest. Find yourself with kids this weekend? It’s the event for you.
First, at 12pm, see some of the best shorts from the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Then, at 1:45, young rockers ShiSho will put on a show backed by visuals by Kendra Minadeo. Here’s an introduction.
At 3:15, as part of the second shorts program, animator Lauren Hemphill will be present to show her film “Ew, Gross!” It’s a celebration of biodiversity and the creatures who are neglected for not being the cutest.
Next Thursday, May 19th, it’s Film Club time at 7pm. The unusual underwater science films of Jean Painlevé, specifically “The Sea Horse” and “Liquid Crystals,” will be the subjects of our viewing and discussion. It’s free… why not come try it out?
Werner Herzog’s new 3D(!) film Cave of Forgotten Dreams is coming to the Plaza Cinemas at Chapel Hill this Friday, saving us a drive to Cleveland. It’s 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. GQ recently did quite an interview with Herzog.
