Flora Throwdown at the Akron Art Museum

As part of the Akron Art Museum’s ArtTalks@Dusk program on Thursday, July 28, The Akron Garden Club will present Floral Throwdown, a flower arranging challenge inspired by the Flora exhibition currently on view in the museum’s Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Gallery. This free program will take place in the museum lobby at 7:30 pm and is part of the museum’s popular Downtown@Dusk concert series.

Founded in 1924, The Akron Garden Club’s current projects include gardens at Stan Hywet Hall, Wildflower Rescue and the Akron Art Museum. Come see members of this talented gardening club “make it work” as they create flower arrangements inspired by the Flora collection in this Project Runway style competition.

Concert goers may also visit the museum galleries to view Flora, as well as Kaleidoscope Quilts: The Art of Paula Nadelstern and The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Ohio during the evening. Gallery admission is required. For detailed information on this and other museum events, visit the calendar of events at http://www.AkronArtMuseum.org/calendar.

ArtTalks@Dusk 2011 are made possible by a gift from the Gertrude F. Orr Trust Advised Fund of Akron Community Foundation.
