Mieczkowski, Ernst Benkert, and Francis Hewitt formed the Anonima Group in the 1960s, and together they developed strict methods of creation and exploration of visual perception that continued to inform Mieczkowski’s work long after the group dissolved. This exhibition will examine Mieczkowski’s black and white works from his time spent with the Anonima Group as well as his constructions, sculpture, and later paintings. It will also introduce Mieczkowski’s color works, relating them to his black and white compositions.
Following the Mieczkowski exhibition, CAF will be closed through the month of August and will reopen in the fall with an exhibition featuring the work of Tom Balbo in conjunction with Cleveland Public Library’s Octavofest. View Tom Balbo’s work by visiting http://www.balbogalleries.com. For further information about CPL’s Octavofest visit http://www.octavofest.com
The opening reception is free for CAF members and $5 for non-members. The exhibition runs from May 18 – July 28, 2012.
